Amazon Fresh Announces Nationwide Grocery Delivery Service: ‘Groceries for All’

Amazon’s Fresh grocery delivery service is now available to non-Prime members across the United States. The expansion comes following an initial launch in 12 cities in August. Customers will have access to groceries from Amazon Fresh stores as well as local grocery and specialty retailers available on Amazon.com.

Additionally, the grocery delivery and free pickup options from Whole Foods Market will also be expanded to non-Prime members. Amazon plans to offer two-hour grocery delivery from Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods Market in more than 3,500 cities and towns in the US.

Non-Prime members will be required to pay delivery fees for orders under $50, with fees ranging from $14 to $8 based on the total amount spent. These fees are higher than those for Prime members, who are charged $10 for orders under $50, $7 for orders between $50 and $100, and $4 for orders over $100. Shoppers can select a two-hour or six-hour delivery window.

Vice President of Amazon Fresh, Claire Peters, expressed the company’s commitment to making grocery shopping easy, fast, and affordable for all customers. Amazon aims to provide an enhanced grocery shopping experience with a wide selection, good value, and convenient delivery options.

Amazon first launched Fresh in 2007 and currently operates about 45 locations in the U.S. The company has also taken steps to improve its presence in the grocery sector, including the acquisition of Whole Foods for $13.7 billion in 2017 and the launch of Go convenience stores Despite recent staff reductions and store closures, Amazon remains committed to its grocery business.
