Apple Announces Next Impact Accelerator Class Advancing Environmental Innovation

Apple has revealed its third Impact Accelerator class, consisting of 12 environmental solution and service providers who are pioneering green technology and clean energy. The program aims to support mature businesses owned by Black, Hispanic/Latinx, and Indigenous individuals, helping them scale their impact and advance to the next stage of development. This initiative is part of Apple’s Racial Equity and Justice Initiative, a global effort to promote equity and offer opportunities to communities of color.

Lisa Jackson, Apple’s Vice President of Environment, Policy, and Social Initiatives, expressed her excitement and honor in supporting businesses that are leading the way towards a greener and more equitable future. She emphasized the diverse leaders’ commitment to combating climate change through innovations in renewable energy, recycling, and other areas. Apple is proud to facilitate their journeys and eagerly awaits their future breakthroughs.

The 12 businesses in the new cohort will participate in a 12-week program, benefiting from targeted trainings, executive coaching, skills development, one-to-one mentorship, and access to Apple experts across various fields. Upon completion, the alumni will receive ongoing professional support, networking opportunities through Apple’s Supplier Success community, and potential business opportunities with Apple as it strives to achieve carbon neutrality in its manufacturing supply chain by 2030.

These 12 companies span across the United States and align with Apple’s three environmental priority areas: climate change, resources, and smarter chemistry. Here is a brief introduction to each of them:

– Alard Engineering: Based in Gardena, CA, Alard Engineering invests in sustainable manufacturing practices such as metal chip recycling and chemical treatment to minimize its environmental impact.
– Ares Materials: This Plano, TX-based product chemistry company utilizes an AI-enabled, thiol-based chemistry platform to design eco-friendly polymers tailored for next-generation displays.
– COI Energy: Brooklyn-based COI Energy employs artificial intelligence and machine learning to optimize energy performance in buildings, repurposing energy waste to help companies achieve emissions goals while making significant cost savings.
– Compactor Management Company: Located in Union City, CA, Compactor Management Company offers comprehensive solutions for waste and recycling management, empowering businesses to embrace sustainability.
– Elite Energy Distribution: As a First Nation electronic scrap and battery recycling company, Elite Energy Distribution, based in Brookfield, WI, ensures the responsible recycling of 100% of electronic and battery waste.
– Green Earth Sustainable Solution, Inc.: This San Jose, CA-based recycling company focuses on waste minimization and offers services to assist clients in implementing sustainable business practices.
– GridChain: Based in Atlanta, GridChain leverages artificial intelligence and machine learning technology to eliminate waste in energy and water resources, thus reducing carbon emissions.
– RIFE International: With a mission to facilitate clean energy adoption, RIFE International, headquartered in Bethesda, MD, tackles environmental challenges through energy efficiency, renewable energy solutions, and climate technology.
– eSmart Recycling: eSmart Recycling, based in Tampa, FL, offsets carbon emissions through recycling technology and promotes environmental sustainability while empowering local communities through access to technology and education.
– SEEL, LLC: Detroit-based SEEL, LLC offers turnkey energy solutions, including energy-efficiency education, energy-saving consultations, and appliance recycling, to help utilities and partners achieve their clean energy goals.
– Superior Innovative Solutions, LLC: Located in Detroit, Superior Innovative Solutions focuses on recycling oils and coolants while incorporating environmentally friendly cleaning materials into its processes.
– TSP Solutions, LLC: Based in Florence, KY, TSP Solutions develops and distributes inks and coatings for the commercial printing and packaging industry, integrating plant-based and biodegradable materials to reduce environmental impact.
