Baldur’s Gate 3: Cross-Platform Bliss

The highly anticipated Baldur’s Gate 3, touted as the biggest CRPG of the year, is set to offer players an expansive adventure that encourages cooperative play with up to four friends. While online multiplayer is expected in today’s gaming landscape, the game surprisingly supports split-screen co-op on both PC and PS5, allowing players to embark on a full campaign together, side-by-side. However, many players will opt to enjoy the game in the comfort of their own homes, which may lead to situations where a PC player and a PS5 player wish to team up. But is cross-platform play possible in Baldur’s Gate 3?

Unfortunately, cross-platform play is not available in Baldur’s Gate 3. Players on PC will only be able to play with others on PC, and the same goes for PS5 players. While there is a possibility that cross-platform play may be added in a future update by Larian Studios, it is best to assume that it won’t be available at present and make purchasing decisions accordingly.

However, there is a small silver lining for players. Baldur’s Gate 3 does offer cross-platform progression, meaning that if players purchase the game on both platforms, they can carry their saved progress between PC and PS5. While not an ideal solution, it does provide an easier way for players to switch between platforms in order to play with a friend, if that is their only option.
