Evgo Fast Charging Network Exceeds 1 Million Customer Accounts – US EV Adoption Surges

EVgo, a prominent US fast-charging network, has recently surpassed over 1 million registered customer accounts, doubling the milestone of 500,000 accounts achieved in October 2022. This significant growth in customer accounts, up by 400% since April 2020, reflects the increasing adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in the country and the rising demand for public charging infrastructure.

In the first quarter of 2024, EVgo reported a nationwide utilization rate of approximately 19% on its network, with a considerable year-over-year increase in gigawatt hour throughput compared to the same period in 2023. The company, headquartered in Los Angeles, is committed to enhancing the customer experience by introducing new features such as the plug and charge payment feature Autocharge+. As of April, this feature is now compatible with over 50 EV models, leading to a more seamless charging experience. The number of charging sessions initiated by Autocharge+ has more than quadrupled in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the previous year.

EVgo is also expanding its high-power fast charging infrastructure, with nearly 40% of its charging stalls now equipped with 350 kW chargers, an increase from 22% recorded at the end of Q1 2023. CEO Badar Khan stated, “With 100,000 potential stalls already identified with site host partners, we look forward to serving many more drivers as we continue to grow our footprint across the US.”
