iPhone 12 Pro Max: Compatibility with iOS 17 Revealed

Apple has released the latest version of its operating system, iOS 17, which brings several new features and enhancements. However, not all iPhone models are compatible with this update.

iOS 17 was announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference in 2023, alongside other updates for iPadOS and macOS. To download iOS 17, your iPhone must be one of the following models:

– iPhone 14
– iPhone 14 Plus
– iPhone 14 Pro
– iPhone 14 Pro Max
– iPhone 13
– iPhone 13 mini
– iPhone 13 Pro
– iPhone 13 Pro Max
– iPhone 12
– iPhone 12 mini
– iPhone 12 Pro
– iPhone 12 Pro Max
– iPhone 11
– iPhone 11 Pro
– iPhone 11 Pro Max
– iPhone XS
– iPhone XS Max
– iPhone XR
– iPhone SE (2nd generation or later)

Unfortunately, older models such as the iPhone 8 and iPhone X are not supported by iOS 17. This is because they are powered by the A11 Bionic chipset, which Apple has dropped support for in this update. On the other hand, newer models like the iPhone Xs, iPhone SE (2020), iPhone 11, iPhone 12, iPhone 13, and iPhone 14 series can run iOS 17.

If you purchase the iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Pro, they come preinstalled with iOS 17, ensuring you have the latest software right out of the box.

So, if you have an older iPhone and want to update to iOS 17, it is a simple process.

Now let’s take a look at what’s new with iOS 17.

iOS 17 introduces updated experiences across various apps, including Phone, FaceTime, and Messages. The Phone app now allows you to customize incoming call screens with different typography and font colors using Contact Posters. Another new feature is Live Voicemail, which provides real-time transcription as someone leaves a voicemail.

In the Messages app, you can now create Live Stickers by extracting subjects from photos and adding effects to them. Additionally, the Check-In feature allows you to notify a family member or friend about your safe arrival at a destination. If there’s no progress, selected contacts will receive information such as your device’s location, battery level, and cell service status temporarily.

FaceTime enables users to leave audio and video messages for missed calls, and it offers various reaction options like hearts, balloons, fireworks, and more.

iOS 17 also introduces NameDrop, which allows users to easily share their contact information by bringing their iPhone or Apple Watch physically close to someone else’s device.

Lastly, Apple will introduce the Journal app later in the year, offering users a platform to reflect and practice gratitude through journaling. The app generates suggestions based on users’ recent activities to assist with journal entries.

Please note that these updates have been shared in a news article style, without headings or subheadings.
