In a recent update, Local Now, the free ad-supported streaming service, has expanded its offerings by adding eight new channels to its television service. Local Now, initially launched as a local news and weather app, has gradually incorporated a vast array of movies and TV shows with advertisements to provide a diverse range of content.
With the addition of these new channels, Local Now now boasts over 490 free live TV channels, solidifying its position as one of the largest free streaming services available for cord cutters. According to Local Now, viewers can expect an average of 492 channels, a mix of both local and national options, with PBS live in approximately half of all markets.
The newly added channels on Local Now include GBN Great Britain News, Action Hollywood Movies, Docsville, Game TV GO, NOW 70s, NOW 80s, NOW Rock, and World of Freesport. Furthermore, Local Now plans to include all local PBS stations later in the year, with a target of completing this addition by the end of 2023. This expansion will continue PBS’s coverage across the country, ensuring more viewers can access PBS content through Local Now.
Among the other recent additions to Local Now are channels such as Deal or No Deal US, Fear Factor, The Biggest Loser, Wipeout Xtra, Love Quest, and McLeod’s Daughters. These channels offer a variety of shows, from gripping game shows to dramatic reality dating programs and compelling scripted dramas.
