Ubisoft+ Premium Plan for All Platforms

Game publisher Ubisoft is once again shaking up its game subscription service, which first launched as Uplay+ in 2019 before being rebranded as Ubisoft+ in 2020. As of today, Ubisoft+ Multi-Access and PC Access will be consolidated into a single offering called Ubisoft+ Premium, while a more affordable option called Ubisoft+ Classics is also being introduced for PC users.

In an official blog post, Ubisoft announced that the newly merged Ubisoft+ Premium subscription will still be priced at $17.99 per month and will continue to provide access to all of the publisher’s new games as day-one releases, and in some cases, as early releases. This includes the recently released Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, which is now available on Ubisoft+ Premium three days before its general release on January 18.

In addition to new releases, the service will also grant players access to a wide selection of older games from Ubisoft’s extensive library. This will include premium editions of those games, as well as downloadable content (DLC). Ubisoft+ Premium will be available to Xbox, PC, and Amazon Luna users, with a single subscription allowing gamers to play across all of these platforms.

On the other hand, the introduction of Ubisoft+ Classics will provide PC users with a more budget-friendly option, priced at $7.99 a month. This plan will exclusively feature older games from the publisher, such as Far Cry 6, Rainbow Six Siege, and Watch Dogs: Legion. Since last year, Ubisoft+ Classics has been offered at no extra cost to PlayStation+ Extra and PlayStation+ Premium subscribers. It remains to be seen if Ubisoft will also make Ubisoft+ Classics available to Xbox and Luna users in the future.

While Ubisoft has not disclosed specific subscriber numbers for Ubisoft+, the blog post revealed that the program has seen strong growth. According to the post, “we’re above projection in terms of subscribers joining the program” and “October alone, we reached the highest month since launch in terms of monthly active users.” The surge in users can be attributed to the release of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, the company’s biggest game launch for current-generation consoles.

This latest restructuring of the Ubisoft+ service represents the publisher’s ongoing efforts to adapt to the evolving landscape of game subscription models. By combining and repositioning its offerings, Ubisoft seeks to appeal to a broader audience while maintaining its position as a leading provider of gaming content.

The competitive pricing of Ubisoft+ Premium, alongside its inclusion of new and early releases, offers a compelling value proposition for dedicated gamers. Likewise, the introduction of the more affordable Ubisoft+ Classics plan caters to users who are primarily interested in accessing older titles from Ubisoft’s extensive catalog.

As the gaming industry continues to shift towards a subscription-based model, Ubisoft’s proactive approach to reconfiguring its offerings reflects its commitment to remaining relevant and competitive in the market. By catering to the diverse preferences of gamers, Ubisoft is positioning itself to capitalize on the growing demand for subscription-based access to premium gaming content.

The consolidation of Ubisoft+ Multi-Access and PC Access into Ubisoft+ Premium is expected to streamline the user experience, providing a more cohesive and comprehensive gaming platform. This move also aligns with the broader trend of content providers simplifying their subscription structures to enhance accessibility and convenience for consumers.

Looking ahead, Ubisoft’s decision to offer Ubisoft+ Classics exclusively for PC users suggests a strategic focus on diversifying its subscription options to meet the varying needs of its user base. While it remains to be seen if this offering will be extended to other platforms, such expansion could further bolster the appeal of Ubisoft’s subscription service.

In light of the positive subscriber and user activity metrics highlighted in Ubisoft’s blog post, it’s evident that the company’s investment in its subscription service is yielding promising results. The continued growth of Ubisoft+ underscores the enduring appeal of subscription-based gaming for both consumers and content providers. As the industry landscape continues to evolve, Ubisoft’s proactive efforts to refine its subscription offerings position it favorably in the competitive marketplace.

Ultimately, Ubisoft’s evolution of its subscription service reflects the company’s commitment to delivering high-quality gaming experiences while adapting to the changing preferences of its audience. With Ubisoft+ Premium and Ubisoft+ Classics, the publisher aims to cater to a wide spectrum of gamers, from those seeking the latest releases to those interested in revisiting classic titles. This strategic approach aligns with the industry’s broader shift towards subscription-based gaming, underlining Ubisoft’s dedication to remaining at the forefront of this evolving trend.

Ubisoft’s decision to revamp its game subscription service with the introduction of Ubisoft+ Premium and Ubisoft+ Classics signifies the publisher’s continued dedication to meeting the diverse needs of its gaming community. With a focus on delivering new and early game releases, as well as providing a more affordable option for accessing older titles, Ubisoft is poised to strengthen its position in the competitive realm of subscription-based gaming. As the industry continues to embrace this model, Ubisoft’s proactive steps to enhance its offerings reflect its commitment to remaining a leader in the evolving landscape of gaming subscriptions.
