Asus ZenBook Pro Duo, Dual-Screen Laptop

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 has officially kicked off in Las Vegas, bringing with it a slew of ready-to-launch tech products and prototype concept devices. Among the highlights of this year’s event are the latest laptops and monitors unveiled by some of the tech industry’s biggest names, including Lenovo, Samsung, MSI, and Alienware.

Asus, a well-respected player in the tech industry, also made some waves at CES 2024 by introducing a range of exciting new products. One of the most talked-about announcements from the company is the unveiling of the Zenbook Duo UX8406 – a highly innovative laptop that boasts a dual-screen form factor.

The Zenbook Duo UX8406 sets itself apart from previous models with its two 14-inch OLED touchscreen displays, which are connected by a 180-degree hinge down the middle. The two displays boast identical specifications, including a 16:10 aspect ratio, 3K (2880 x 1800) resolution, up to 500 nits of peak brightness, and a 120Hz refresh rate. In addition to the impressive dual-screen setup, the device also comes with a detachable Bluetooth keyboard that features a built-in trackpad.

One of the most intriguing aspects of the Zenbook Duo is its versatility. The device can be used as a standard laptop, with the bottom screen entirely covered by the keyboard, or as a traditional dual-screen laptop with the displays arranged vertically. It can also be utilized in desktop mode, with the two screens positioned horizontally.

In terms of performance, the Zenbook Duo will be available in several configurations, including a top-end model that features an Intel Core Ultra 9 H-series processor, 32GB of LPDDR5X memory, a 2TB PCIe 4.0 SSD, and a 75Wh battery. The device is also US MIL-STD-810H certified, indicating that it is designed to withstand harsh environmental conditions.

Connectivity options for the Zenbook Duo include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, 2x Thunderbolt 4, 1x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, 1x HDMI 2.1, and a 3.5mm audio socket. The device is expected to hit the market later this month, with a starting price of £1,699 (approximately $2,163) in the UK. However, there is currently no official information regarding its pricing and availability in the US.

In addition to the Zenbook Duo, Asus also took the opportunity to showcase the ZenScreen Fold OLED (MQ17QH) monitor at CES 2024. This impressive monitor features a 17.3-inch foldable OLED panel with a resolution of 2560 x 1920. The display covers 100 percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut, weighs 1.17 kg, and is just 9.7 mm thick. It is VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certified and comes with a two-way kickstand that allows for both landscape and portrait mode usage.

While the ZenScreen Fold OLED monitor is undoubtedly an enticing prospect, Asus has yet to provide any details regarding its pricing or availability. As a result, it remains to be seen whether the device will be ready for commercial launch in the near future.

Overall, CES 2024 has proven to be an exciting showcase of cutting-edge technology, with Asus at the forefront of innovation with its Zenbook Duo UX8406 laptop and ZenScreen Fold OLED monitor. Tech enthusiasts and consumers alike will no doubt be eagerly anticipating the release of these new products, which promise to push the boundaries of what is possible in the world of consumer electronics.
