McIntosh and Sonus Faber Unveil $1M Sound System at CES 2024

At CES 2024, two iconic brands in the audio world celebrated their anniversaries by unveiling groundbreaking new products. McIntosh and Sonus faber, both part of the McIntosh Group family of brands, showcased their latest offerings at the world’s biggest consumer electronics show, including McIntosh’s new MC2.1KW Monoblock Power Amplifier and Sonus faber’s Suprema 2.2 system.

McIntosh, celebrating its 75th anniversary, introduced its MC2.1KW Monoblock Power Amplifier, a 2,000-watt powerhouse that the company touts as one of its most powerful amplifiers to date. The amplifier is priced at $50,000 and features a unique “tri-chassis marvel” design comprising three separate modules, including an Output Module with McIntosh’s iconic blue VU meter. McIntosh also released 75th anniversary editions of several popular products, all adorned with special markings to commemorate the milestone.

The MC2.1KW Monoblock amplifier boasts the ability to deliver its full 2,000 watts of power into speakers of varying impedance, making it suitable for large rooms and power-hungry loudspeakers. The introduction of McIntosh’s powerful amplifier set the stage for an incredible exhibition featuring the Sonus faber Suprema 2.2 system.

The Suprema 2.2 system is a high-end offering from Sonus faber, designed in celebration of the Italian company’s 40th anniversary. This $750,000 system pays homage to two of the company’s heritage speaker lines, the Guarneri and the Stradavari, and is available with the option of one or two subwoofers. Crafted with carbon fiber, wood, and CNC-machined solid aluminum, the Suprema towers stand at 6.25 feet tall and feature a luxurious, lute-shaped design.

Each Suprema tower houses eight front-firing speakers, including tweeters, midrange drivers, and woofers, offering a symphony of sound. The system also includes 5-foot tall elliptical subwoofers, designed for optimal low-range response. The subwoofers feature two 15-inch woofers and offer a frequency response of 16Hz to 30/80Hz, depending on the crossover setup.

This exquisite system, featuring craftsmanship by the renowned Italian furniture brand Poltrona Frau, allows buyers to select the wood used and choose from a variety of leather colors. The Suprema 2.2 system is available upon request and comes with a trip to the Italian factory as part of the purchase price.

During a demonstration at McIntosh’s “Villa of Sound” exhibition at CES 2024, attendees were treated to a showcase of the Sonus faber Suprema 2.2 system, which delivered a powerful, clear, and dynamic performance. The system exhibited impressive sonic capabilities, offering a deep, powerful low-end and a suggested power output ranging from 500 to 2,000 watts. Despite the system’s $1,000,000 price tag, the demonstration showcased its ability to deliver an incredible audio experience with a selection of diverse musical performances.

Overall, the exhibition at CES 2024 showcased cutting-edge audio technology and exquisite craftsmanship from two of the most influential brands in the industry, McIntosh and Sonus faber. Their celebrations of milestone anniversaries marked a new era of innovation and luxury in the world of high-end audio.
